Hot topic: why do some plastic artificial plants in China (such as grass wall panel) look similar, some companies offer higher prices, while others offer lower prices?

A colleague who went to Chongqing in China  attend the domestic trade fair in 2019 once told me that for a piece of 25 cm x 25 cm plastic artificial grass wall panel with similar appearance, some suppliers can sell it for 3 Yuan and some suppliers can sell it for nearly 10 Yuan. Why is the price difference of the similar grass item so far? What is the difference between a 3 Yuan grass wall panel and a 10 Yuan one? Which price is more cost-effective?

We can carry on the analysis from the following several aspects to explore the mystery of the price gap.

1.Material

Some plastic artificial plants in China look similar. In fact, there are great differences in materials. Expensive grass uses LDPE (low density polyethylene) as raw material, without adding second-hand plastic raw materials. Second hand material is cheaper than the new material, the quality will be worse, the color is not pure enough, although the appearance of finished products is similar,  the cost of raw materials is very different.

It is UV resistant, it can be placed outdoor for five years. The color can maintain bright for a long time. With ordinary cheap pigment, it can't be UV resistant at all. It may fade from several months to a year.

Strong suppliers often have a factory inspection system (such as BSCI). Such suppliers respect human rights, do not employ children, and do not distribute accessories to prison for assembly. Through BSCI audit, the supplier must carry out the work in strict accordance with the requirements. Good suppliers have also passed a series of certification (such as the 5000 hour xenon lamp test of SGS) to prove that they can be kept outdoors for a long time and they are  strong weather resistant. Good suppliers will also participate in the system designated by customers, such as SEDEX (Supplier Ethics Data exchange). Because it will cost a lot of human and financial resources to participate in these certification or organization, the management cost will be much higher.

Suppliers with high management level have their own R & D capabilities, a series of production management, strict inspection process, and professional documentary management. They are responsible for the pre-sale, in-sales and after-sales management of products. Although the cost will be increased correspondingly, the quality of products and customer satisfaction will be greatly improved.

4、 Details

Some details can also distinguish the level of different suppliers. For example, the accessories (such as grass bundles) produced by well managed suppliers do not emerge the tears. Good suppliers operate the parts manually by one person and one machine, and the accessories are taken out after cooling for enough time in the mold. The accessories are not deformed and have few defects. The accessories produced by poor suppliers emerge tear and many defects, which must be carefully observed before they can be found.

To sum up, the price is the embodiment of value. The plastic artificial plants in china such as grass wall panel with low price is not necessarily professional or cost-effective; the one with high price often has better quality and longer storage time, which can better meet the needs of customers.
